Linda "Ellie" Black For CA Assembly District 27

Ellie BlackWe The People can take back our country! But we must do it together.

I'm running for Assembly in the 27 district to get California's finances back in balance, our schools educating, and our businesses growing again. State taxes, regulations, public employee pensions, teachers' pay and incentives must change to make this happen. Professional politicians like my opponent have grown state government to over 500 agencies, feeding it with income and sales taxes (now over 9%) -- and still the state is in constant financial crisis. And they want more.

We need to send farmers, business owners, teachers, doctors, engineers, and working mothers and fathers into elected positions. These are people who live in the real world and experience the impact of government policy. These people from the private sector are the ones who understand how to create things from the ground up, and maintain them, be it a family, a business, or a thriving classroom. They understand that government is supposed to work for them, not the other way around!

I am a self-made business owner of 10 years and I know what it takes for organizations of any size to run efficiently and productively. My background is in business management, budgeting, and marketing. I understand how finances work.

I will not be receiving large contributions from labor unions, drug companies, and other sources that most candidates fund their campaigns with. I refuse to "owe" these types of organizations anything. I need, and prefer, many smaller donations from real people. If you cannot donate money, your time and energy are just as valuable! If you can help with my campaign in any way please JOIN US and let us know how you would like to help.

I'm out gunned in this Campaign

By Anonymous, on Aug 28, 2010

Well I mean money not guns. I just checked the public campaign finances info on line. "MONNING 2010, FRIENDS OF BILL" collected $170,120.00 in the first half of this year. I guess that explains why there are Monning signs all over the district.

Lots of Unions and companies in the detailed lists. You can read those details here

Paul Gaylon's Endorsement

Linda Black, whom I’ve known from the Herb Room for more than a decade, has always been a proactive person. In her campaign, win, lose, or draw she is raising very important issues that are near and dear to my heart. Organic food; farmers markets; the importance of industrial hemp; watershed conservation; keeping  the public water, air and soil clean by fighting to stop water fluoridation and chemical (toxic) spraying upon the public, as well as  protecting the commons (the land we all use).

Raise Taxes on the lower and middle classes only???

By Ellie Black, on Aug 4, 2010

I just came across this juicy tidbit of lunacy:

You have got to be kidding. Raising taxes is bad enough, way to go taking a bad idea and making it worse!

Posting Salaries: A place to start

By Ellie Black, on Aug 4, 2010

The city of Bell will hopefully set an example for other local governments in the State by making some serious changes and recalling/voting out these people. The situation is also causing some waves on the state level:
